“You & me & walks in the park…that’s what spring time is all about”
This is my layout entry into the Merly Impressions and Challenge Yourself competition (cutting it fine in both cases…I know). There’s not much time for scrapbooking for me at the moment, a very energetic 14 month old and work and family life leaves very little time for anything else! But hey ho….it hasn’t stopped me from taking pictures of it all so when I do manage to find some time, at least I’ll have hundreds (yes hundreds…) of pictures to choose from!
Here is my layout….
The Merly Challenge has a spring theme this month, and I just loved these pictures of me and my little boy going for a walk in Sherwood forest on one of the first sunny days in spring! I used the sketch from Challenge Yourself, where the aim of the game was motherhood and any females in your life. There’s not too many females in my life but for me this is what motherhood is all about, spending time with my little boy, who is my best achievement so far! Here is the sketch:
And some close ups…
All the papers are from Authentique. Thanks for stopping by!
Happy Easter to everyone! And a long weekend means I get to catch up on all the lovely blogs I love to read and post something of my own. So today I’m sharing a layout I made for the Merly Impressions and Challenge Yourself challenges. Over at Merly, the challenge is to use dies, die-cuts or punches, which is a great challenge because let’s be honest…who doesn’t have an abundance of dies and punches lying around waiting to be used? And Challenge Yourself is asking us to create something using trendy products in the scrapbooking world right now. No problem there (I say over-confidently!)!
Sooooo, where do I start? I’ve used a couple of different border punches on some of the papers in the middle. I also used some dies to make the butterflies and and a part of the title. And from what I can tell, it would seem as though stencilling, washi tape and doodling seem to be in fashion right now.
I doodled around a part of the title, which really made the difference for it to stand out. I also used a combination of distress ink and an old inkpad which I rubbed through my new favourite Tim Holtz stencil! Add some washi tape, gems, a couple of flower embellishments, a lovely rub on from Kaisercraft and voilà…layout done!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the last of your Easter eggs!
Hi everyone…doesn’t it feel like spring is here? The clocks have gone forwards and the days are longer and brighter! HOORAY! And even though there really isn’t more time in the day (although I wish there was), it just FEELS like there is and that I don’t have to close the curtains at 4pm!
So…enough babbling about the weather (can’t help it, I live in England) and onto the Merly Impressions challenge…favourite foods! And as I don’t have any flattering photo’s of me eating my favourite foods, I naturally moved on to my little boys pictures. I must admit, I had to go through quite a few pictures involving some very messy eating sessions, but I decided to settle for the first time he had a chocolate biscuit!
Homemade Cookie Monster
I did lots of misting and spritzing and inking for my background and am pleased with how it turned out. I was also glad that I managed to get 4 photo’s onto one page! I used the lovely Kaisercraft – Hello Sunshine collection again, it really is so versatile.
I did some fussy cutting to make the bunting and the little hearts around the page. I also used some bits from the collection pack – so many nice things in there.
I also stamped a few bits using Kaisercrafts Captured Moments stamp set – LOVE them so much! I had to mix and match some alpha’s for my title…
There you have it! Thanks for stopping by and have super sunshiny days!
Hi all! Where has all this time gone? Yip, I’m cutting it a bit fine getting my entry into the Merly Impressions challenge this month (I think I’m getting later each time!). And boy, I’ve really really enjoyed this month’s challenge! I have quite a few stamps in my collection and have hardly used any of them 😦 I don’t know why, it’s just one of those things I suppose, they look so pretty and I think of all their potential and then that’s it…I must buy it! So I pulled out my stamps and….
I used one of my Kaisercraft background stamps (love them) and created my background and then brightened it up a bit using some distress stains. The collection I used is ‘Hello Sunshine’ from Kaisercraft as well, and I just love the versatility of it. I had to stop myself from using all the papers on one layout!
I also bought one of the Kaisercraft ‘Captured Moments’ stamp sets and used it to stamp the polaroid frame and the little ‘For The Record’ sentiment. I think this is what I’ve done a little differently, I normally only use background stamps!
The Merly Impressions shop has all of these lovely goodies!
Thanks for stopping by!
Hi everyone! I hope January hasn’t gone as quickly for you as it has for me? There’s been a few changes that has happened in January, but my main one is that my time as a full time mum finally came to an end! I can honestly say that these have been the best and most rewarding months of my life, but on the flip side, going back to work has been kind of refreshing, especially when I know my little boy is having a fab time at his childcare!
And so that brings me nicely to the Merly Impressions January challenge – My favourite moment or memory for 2013. The only ‘rule’ for the challenge is that 2013 had to be in the title. Easy peasy lemon squeezy! (I hope it’s not cheating when you had your first baby born in 2013?) I also decided to combine this with the Scrap 365 February challenge as I really loved the sketch! First of all, I must apologise for the poor quality of the photo’s, unfortunately there is not much sunlight coming through the windows this time of the year in England and doesn’t help my photo taking skills!
You Are 2013’s Best Gift
And here is the sketch:
The title to my layout is inspired by one of my favourite songs called ‘You Are’ by the Daylights. I also wrote some of the lyrics from the song as a border around the layout. The chorus goes:
You are my first hello and my last goodbye, Your give my favourite looks from my favourite eyes, You are the lights in the constellations hiding, You’re the heavens falling from the earth tonight
You make my heart feel this and my head feel that, and I don’t mean to be sentimental but you’re the only thing that means anything, You Are, You Are, You Are…You Are.
And in the pocket I wrote a little mother to son poem for him to read one day! I loved these papers from My Mind’s Eye, they are really colourful and eye-catching!
Thanks for looking and here’s to an exciting February!
Starting the new year off with a layout is such a great feeling! I got some lovely inspiration from the Let’s Get Sketchy blog, who were doing a Bingo Fun Challenge. I’ve never really done one of these before, I usually start from a sketch, so it made a nice and welcome change. I also decided to enter it into the Merly Impressions December Challenge at the last minute! Here is the bingo card:
And I decided to do row 4 (Christmas tree, bling, poinsetta, Christmas papers, tags).
‘Tis The Season
The Merly Challenge was to make use of your stencils. Here I used one of my bubble wrap stencils and used my distress stains which matched the colours of the papers. The papers are all Christmas themed, I couldn’t tell you who they were by though, as I must have had these in my stash at least 2 years! I was feeling very proud of myself for using my stash, until I went and spent a load more on new stuff! And here are my tags from the bingo card!
The poinsettia’s are on my tags! (very clever I know!) I also used some texture paste through one of my Kaisercraft stencils and then doodled around them just to highlight them a touch more. And of course, you can’t have a Christmas tree or decorations without some bling!
And there you have it…Christmas tree, Christmas papers, poinsettia’s, bling, tags and stencils!
Have you ever had a layout which looked a lot better in your imagination than it actually does? I got right to the end of this one, and added a stamped border around the page and then…I didn’t like it! Luckily, it was a quick fix and nothing to hard to do again! I used all my lovely Kaisercraft goodies from my Merly win last month, and before I had to end up fixing it, I found this layout came together really easily (which sounds weird I know!)
And because I got all my lovely goodies from Merly Impressions, I thought it would be great to use them for this month’s challenge. The theme of the challenge was to use a non 6×4 photo:
I Love To Play
I used my 12 x 12 Kaisercraft stencil to create my background with different distress stains. I didn’t need much else on the layout, so used a few bits and pieces from the Blast Off collection.
I doodled my border around the page (after redoing the background) and much preferred how it looked! I really wanted to use the ‘I Love To Dream’ element, but of course my photo’s had nothing to do with sleeping, so I crossed out a little bit and just doodled my own word. It actually suits my little boy perfectly, as he never wants to sleep anyway! I also have a little journalling tag behind the photo’s.
