Hi everyone…doesn’t it feel like spring is here? The clocks have gone forwards and the days are longer and brighter! HOORAY! And even though there really isn’t more time in the day (although I wish there was), it just FEELS like there is and that I don’t have to close the curtains at 4pm!
So…enough babbling about the weather (can’t help it, I live in England) and onto the Merly Impressions challenge…favourite foods! And as I don’t have any flattering photo’s of me eating my favourite foods, I naturally moved on to my little boys pictures. I must admit, I had to go through quite a few pictures involving some very messy eating sessions, but I decided to settle for the first time he had a chocolate biscuit!
Homemade Cookie Monster
I did lots of misting and spritzing and inking for my background and am pleased with how it turned out. I was also glad that I managed to get 4 photo’s onto one page! I used the lovely Kaisercraft – Hello Sunshine collection again, it really is so versatile.
I did some fussy cutting to make the bunting and the little hearts around the page. I also used some bits from the collection pack – so many nice things in there.
I also stamped a few bits using Kaisercrafts Captured Moments stamp set – LOVE them so much! I had to mix and match some alpha’s for my title…
There you have it! Thanks for stopping by and have super sunshiny days!
Hi all! Where has all this time gone? Yip, I’m cutting it a bit fine getting my entry into the Merly Impressions challenge this month (I think I’m getting later each time!). And boy, I’ve really really enjoyed this month’s challenge! I have quite a few stamps in my collection and have hardly used any of them 😦 I don’t know why, it’s just one of those things I suppose, they look so pretty and I think of all their potential and then that’s it…I must buy it! So I pulled out my stamps and….
I used one of my Kaisercraft background stamps (love them) and created my background and then brightened it up a bit using some distress stains. The collection I used is ‘Hello Sunshine’ from Kaisercraft as well, and I just love the versatility of it. I had to stop myself from using all the papers on one layout!
I also bought one of the Kaisercraft ‘Captured Moments’ stamp sets and used it to stamp the polaroid frame and the little ‘For The Record’ sentiment. I think this is what I’ve done a little differently, I normally only use background stamps!
The Merly Impressions shop has all of these lovely goodies!
Thanks for stopping by!
Have you ever had a layout which looked a lot better in your imagination than it actually does? I got right to the end of this one, and added a stamped border around the page and then…I didn’t like it! Luckily, it was a quick fix and nothing to hard to do again! I used all my lovely Kaisercraft goodies from my Merly win last month, and before I had to end up fixing it, I found this layout came together really easily (which sounds weird I know!)
And because I got all my lovely goodies from Merly Impressions, I thought it would be great to use them for this month’s challenge. The theme of the challenge was to use a non 6×4 photo:
I Love To Play
I used my 12 x 12 Kaisercraft stencil to create my background with different distress stains. I didn’t need much else on the layout, so used a few bits and pieces from the Blast Off collection.
I doodled my border around the page (after redoing the background) and much preferred how it looked! I really wanted to use the ‘I Love To Dream’ element, but of course my photo’s had nothing to do with sleeping, so I crossed out a little bit and just doodled my own word. It actually suits my little boy perfectly, as he never wants to sleep anyway! I also have a little journalling tag behind the photo’s.
It’s not hard to do a layout when you have great material to work with! I love this photo of my little boy, it was just a snap I took on instagram and was just one of those right place right time photo’s. He usually wriggles around so much that some part of the photo is always blurry!
This is going to be my entry into the Merly Impressions August challenge. I did it at my monthly crop where we used the My Mind’s Eye – Find Your Wings and Fly collection with some 12 x 12 papers and a whole load of 6 x 6 papers. It was quite a challenge for me, because there was a lot of pink going on, so I tried to get creative to make a layout which didn’t look too girly. The challenge this month was using a sketch:
This is my interpretation….
This Smile Melts My Heart Layout
I really enjoyed this sketch, it left lots of room to be able to do your own thing! I used my lovely Kaisercraft background stamps (bought from Merly of course!) and some distress stain as a start, layered strips of paper on top and also added some texture paste. The card I mounted my photo onto started off as plain white card, which I spritzed using all sorts of inks until I was happy with the result.
I cut my letters out from a printed sheet of paper, which I spritzed in the same colours that I used throughout my layout. The lovely Linda Iswariah showed me this technique, and it’s definitely going to be something I’m going to use in the future! I also put some glossy accents onto the ‘Smile’ part of the title just to make it stand out a little more.
And just because the layout is of my little boy, didn’t mean I couldn’t add a little sparkle…
I really enjoyed using the Kaisercraft – ‘Bundle of Joy’ Collection! This was the third layout I managed to get out of the papers I was given. Initially, I didn’t know which photo I was going to use which would match the papers, but when I went through them I saw that his baby blanket which I had at the hospital matched perfectly. It was like I was meant to scrap the photo’s with these papers! I know I based this layout on a sketch from the Scrap 365 Magazine, and I’m pretty sure it was from the Feb/Mar issue, but I cannot for the life of me find my magazine to make sure!
I had some old chipboard letters left over and painted them white with some white acrylic paint (Ranger Acrylic Paint – Snow Cap).
I made my own tag, stamped some clouds and added a stamped butterfly which I covered with stickles to have some continuity throughout the layouts.
I was also given some Kaisercraft rub-ons, and this one was just so appropriate!
This is another tag which I made. I actually used my little boy’s hospital bracelet as an embellishment!
This is the first of three layouts I did using the Kaisercraft – ‘Bundle of Joy’ Collection. I got these papers given to me as a present for the birth of my little boy in March and absolutely loved them the minute I saw them!
I tried to make impressions of my little boy’s feet soon after he was born, but that proved to be a multitasking nightmare and so I settled for taking sneaky pictures while he was sleeping! So when I saw the Kaisercraft papers with the little feet note card, I knew exactly how I was going to use it!
Perfect 10 Layout
I had some spare letters, but actually had no R or numbers, so I cut a leftover letter M for the R, and used the letter I and O for the 10.
I loved the sentiment on this note card and it perfectly matches how I feel when I look at this picture. I cut a Prima swirl into bits to fit the way I wanted it to and some of my own gems to add some sparkle!
I had this cardboard die-cut from my stash for some time, and to help it fit in with my colour scheme, I painted it white with acrylic paint and then inked it with a chalk. In my other layouts using these papers, I have some butterflies and so I stamped some small butterflies and cut them out so I could have some continuity throughout all the layouts.
